In this Week's Pastor's E-News
As your pastor, one of my goals for the rest of 2012 and all of 2013 is to better communicate with you about special ministry events in the life of the church. Anytime you want more information, just click on the link in this issue of "E-News" and it will take you to a page with more information. I'm so glad you are reading, and so glad you are a part of our church community. Blessings to you, and welcome to the all-new "Pastor's E-News." Join us this Sunday as we continue the series, "Reaching In, Reaching Out, Lifting Up." Through this series, we've been exploring what it means to reach into ourselves and be the city on a hill. Then, we reached out to those we find different from us in a political and religous sense. We considered who we are in a world of such diversity. Last weekend, Pastor Erin challenged us to live into the legacy of those who came before us. This weekend, we'll turn our attention to celebrating those that serve, our veterans. We'll honor and remember those that have served this country and we'll challenge ourselves to serve God in this world. I hope you'll join us!!! A Night of Celebration, this Thursday Join us this Thursday night for a "Night of Celebration." This is an evening our ministry team coordinators and committee chairs join Pastor Rob as we share the great ministry of 2012. Then, we look at the goals and ministry events coming up for 2013. Join us for this awesome evening, which is open to all members and visitors. We begin at 6:30pm on Thursday night in the sanctuary and will be done by 8:15pm. Serve at the Potato Drop this Saturday On Saturday, November 10, the United Methodist Men are hosting a Potato Drop. All are invited--men, women, youth, members, and visitors!! Help the UMM as they unload thousands of pounds of potatoes for those in need. Visit with Mike Wood or Wes Moore at wes-moore41@hotmail.com to let them know you want to help this Saturday. Serve Thanksgiving Sunday in the Inner-City We are all so blessed to spend Thanksgiving with loved ones. So, our church thought it would be an awesome to reach out to those who struggle to find food and fellowship. Monticello UMC is sending a mission team to Grand Avenue Temple, an inner-city church and homeless shelter, on Sunday, November 25. That day, we'll have one worship service at Monticello at 10:45. The mission team will be gone from 8:00am until 2:00pm. There, you'll serve lunch and greet those in need and start a great kickoff to the Advent season. Learn more here then sign-up at the Connection Point this Sunday. Christmas Poinsettias Available Now Christmas Poinsettias available for purchase now. Are you willing to take on the challenge to "pray unceasingly?" (1 Thessalonians 5:17) If so, join the new prayer chain. This dedicated group of people will receive email throughout the week including the current prayer requests in the life of the church that are "public." (Those confidential requests, of course will not be shared on the prayer chain but instead handled by our pastors.) To join, just email church.office@getGOD.info from the email you want to use. Then, Cindy will add you to our new prayer chain. Calling all youth!!! On Saturday, November 17, join us as all our youth (grade 6 through college) all gather together to do some work at the church. At 9:00am, parents are encouraged to join us for about 30 minutes. During that time, we'll share some special important news including a sneak peak at our summer mission trip. Can you believe it? We are only weeks away from a great new youth center. We'll get our hands dirty as we do some remodeling work. Youth BE SURE to join us this Saturday at 9:00am. It's an important day for you!!! First, come a few minutes early to worship and see the announcements Candace and her team have put together. They'll always run prior to each service right up to the prelude. But once the prelude begins, the announcements stop. So, come early and check out the events taking place! Secondly, their new website has the most up-to-date info about Monticello. The new site is located at http://sites.getGOD.info and is available 24 hours a day. They have posted all the current events in the life of the church. And, did you know you can purchase tickets for events like the Fall Festival, purchase an Advent poinsetta, or register plus pay for an event right online? Just click on "Give or Purchase Online" and you can do everything right on the website. How to Be Sure You Get Info from the Church Sometimes junk mail filters grab our emails.
