Welcome from Pastor Rob
Welcome back for 2013!  As you know, we have started our new year with new times.  Our leadership teams have discussed for months what the church needs to move forward into the future.  The answer has been a resounding call for relationships--growth in our relationships with each other, and growth in our relationship with Christ.  So, they asked the question, how do you improve relationships?  The answer--opportunities for small group discussion, study, and to grow in our walk with Christ.

This weekend, Monticello experienced a new time for Sunday School for all ages.  In one weekend, we went from an average of 18 in Sunday school to a staggering 56 people of all ages coming at 9:15am for small group and study opportunities.  Two of them came just in response to a postcard and had never been here before they arrived in class.  Thanks for joining us!  I look forward to where these new groups may lead and how they connect us to each other and to Christ!

Then, worship on Sunday was packed!!  In the last 2 weeks, we have seen 34 first-time visitors to Monticello.  Each received a letter this week, thanking them for their visit.  And, we hope to see many back again!

After worship, we experimented with a new coffee time and we wondered if anyone would attend.  Nearly 80 people all stayed to visit for a while after worship.  Then, 31 returned for the evening movie.

It has been a wonderful 2 weeks of energy, growth in spirit, growth in numbers, and a time to see Monticello do incredible ministry.  I want you to know I am so proud of you and your leaders for guiding us through this transition.  I pray wonderful things are ahead for you as a congregation.  Many blessings!

This Weekend in Worship
This weekend, we continue our series called, "God at the Movies" as we look at the concept of being beautiful in God's eyes.  We are made in the image of God and God loves us, just as we are.  We'll use the movie, "Beauty and the Beast" and consider the practical truths of the Gospel.  I hope you'll join us!  Then, come back for the full movie at 5:30pm, complete with popcorn.  It will be a great family evening!  Learn more here.

Farm Hands Concert is a "do not miss" event!!
The Farm Hands is a bluegrass quartet coming all the way from the Grand Ole' Opry in Nashville.  They'll be here at Monticello for a free concert--yes free-- on Saturday, January 19, 2012.  So stop by, find a place to park around the tour busses, and join us in your down home outfits for an awesome night of bluegrass music!  A potluck starts the evening at 6:00pm and the concert begins at 7:00pm.  Want to learn more or catch some photos or video of the group in action?  Click here.

Are you in a Small Study Group yet?
The best way to grow in your faith is to join a small study group.  We talk, study, and consider how we can support each other on the walk.  You can sign-up at the Connection Point or just show up.  Remember, 9:15am class options are:
  • JAM Time (Jesus and Me), for children preschool through grade 5, in the children's center.
  • The Well, for youth in grades 6-12, in the Student Center.
  • Pathfinders, for adults, led by Jim Reynolds in the chapel.
  • Christianity and Other Religions, a 6-week class for adults, led by Pastor Rob in the sanctuary
  • Christians on the Move--a Study of Acts, a 6-week class for adults, led by Pastor Erin in the chapel

Prayer Chain Kicks Off this Week!  Are you On It?
The first prayer chain emails will go out this week.  I hope you're on our prayer chain too so you can be in prayer for those around you!  Each week, I'll be sending a list of public prayer requests to this new group.  (Those confidential requests, of course will not be shared on the prayer chain but instead handled by our pastors.)   To be on the new prayer chain, just email Cindy at cindy.hedges@getGOD.info from the email you want to use. Let her know you want to be on the new Monticello prayer chain.  Or just write "Prayer Chain" on your yellow sheet.

Last Chance for Directory Forms
Last chance!  The directory will be coming out soon.  And, we need all those who want to be in the directory (or just want to be sure you are on our mailing list) to fill out a database form. You'll find them in worship this weekend and at the Connection Point.

Order Your Dinner Theater Tickets (even better, be in it!)
Join us on February 9 as Monticello presents the "award-winning" Dinner and Variety Show!  The show is completely free and begins at 7:00pm.  The dinner begins at 5:30pm and is catered, so tickets are necesary.  Get them on our website here or at the Connection Point this Sunday.  Who knows, maybe you can even join in the show?  To sign-up for an act, just stop by the Connection Point too.   Don't miss this big event from our Family Ministry Team, The Dinner and Variety Show, coming February 9!!  Learn more about the Variety Show here.
