Local author, Tim McHenry, will share information about Therapy dogs and about his own special relationship with his 3-legged dog, Dixie. Tim may even set up an agility course so Dixie can show off. Also joining us will be Lea Ann Shearer from Kansas City, founder and executive director, of Paws for Freedom and S.T.A.R.T. (Student Trainer and Retriever Teams.) Paws for Freedom, a training program for assistance dogs, is committed to providing consistent training for its prospective dogs from infancy to adulthood. Thus, they begin the training program on-site as soon as the puppies are able. S.T.A.R.T. offers animal-assisted therapy to young people with learning disabilities who become trainers for the dogs. Everyone is welcome! Refreshments will be served following the program. When: Saturday, October 11, 2014 from 1 to 2pm. Where: MUMC's Fellowship Hall Cost: FREE! No registration is required.
